If you’re looking to restore the volume in your complexion, Juvederm is the most effective temporary fix for patients in the Livingston, NJ area looking to achieve a more youthful look.
Juvederm is a collection of FDA-approved gels that are injected into the facial tissue under the dermis, with the intention of plumping that area up. It is strongly focused on moderate to severe wrinkle reduction to add volume around the nose, mouth and cheeks.
The procedure consists of Dr. Cooperman using a thin needle to inject the gel under the skin. The tissue that has deteriorated over time is filled with the gel, eliminating visible wrinkles. This gel contains Hyaluronic Acid (HA) that is naturally found in your body but decreases in the natural aging process. These fillers provide from 9 months to 1 year of correction, which patients are encouraged to repeat annually to continuously look their best.
Although Juvederm products contain the anesthetic lidocaine, you can expect to feel slight discomfort during the procedure but should not feel any significant pain. Feel free to discuss your options of numbing the site prior to injection with Dr. Cooperman when planning your procedure.
Most side effects are mild and clear up within 7 days, at most. The most common side effect include the following near the site of injection:
It is recommended that within 24 hours of the procedure, patients avoid sun exposure, exercising and alcohol. Exposure to any of these can severely worsen the above side effects. Be sure to discuss how long to wait until you can regularly apply makeup after the procedure.
If any of these symptoms continue for more than the few days, contact Dr. Cooperman’s office as soon as possible.
Juvederm has been studied on different skin tones and types, concluding that patients of all skin types can go through the procedure safely.
Juvederm is not for patients who are allergic to anaphylaxis, gram-positive bacterial proteins or lidocaine. Please inform Dr. Cooperman if you are on blood thinners such as aspirin, ibuprofen or naproxen for any reason. Taking these substances may prolong bleeding or bruising during/after the procedure.
